Winning Meal

Last Saturday, we were looking for a place that would both allow us to catch Game 3 of the World Series and enjoy food beyond your usual pub fare. Yard House in the Ridge Hill Shopping complex in Yonkers, NY proved to fit the bill.

We called in advance for reservations but were told that reservations weren’t accepted on the weekends. As we entered Yard House, we noticed how busy it was. Luckily, there were seats at the bar and we were able to bypass the 45 minute wait for a table. Even better was the fact the the TV in front of us was showing the game between the Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants.

With the score not in the Tigers favor (Half of Foodie Pleasure is a Tigers fan), we were fortunate the food provided a good distraction. Here is what we had. Please note that due to dark lighting, the pictures aren’t great but the food certainly was!

Selection of taps at Yard House.

Yard House has over 130 taps so there’s a good chance they will have your favorite type of beer. We went with a Paulaner Hefe-weizen.

Boneless Wings

We started with boneless wings with buffalo and firecracker sauces. Contrary to its name, the firecracker sauce wasn’t too spicy and instead had a barely sweet sesame garlic plum sauce. Both sauces were absolutely delicious!

Baja Fish Tacos

We love fish tacos so ordering this was a no-brainer! The fish was cooked perfectly and the toppings of  lemon sriracha aïoli, green cabbage, cilantro, pico de gallo and guacamole made each bite perfect.

Salted Caramel Butterscotch Pudding

We are still thinking about this dessert and wondering if we should go just to order the pudding! It was rich with the perfect amount of sea salt flakes to round out the flavor.

At the end of the day, our team lost but the meal was a winner. If you’re looking for a place to watch sports, eat great food and listen to great classic rock music, Yard House is your spot! Let us know if you go check out the one nearest you.
