In the past few months, we’ve had the opportunity to learn more about the non-profit organization, Careers Through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) from our interviews with its founder Richard Grausman, as well as C-CAP Alumni Chefs Thiago Silva (Catch), Kelvin Fernandez (The Strand, American Bistro) and Yvan Lemoine (Next Food Network Star)
Given our admiration for the program, we were more than happy to accept an invitation to attend C-CAP’s Annual Benefit on Monday, March 4 at Pier 60/Chelsea Piers in NYC. This year the benefit will honor Tony May, owner of SD26 and one of the nation’s most respected restaurateurs. As this year’s honoree, Mr. May will receive the C-CAP Honors Award. Past recipients of the C-CAP Honors Award include Michael McCarty, Michael Lomonaco, Marcus Samuelsson, Drew Nieporent, Alfred Portale, Lidia Bastianich, Thomas Keller, Charlie Palmer, Danny Meyer, Michael Romano, Daniel Boulud, and Jacques Pepin.
Guests will enjoy food prepared by 40 of the city’s most celebrated chefs, all of whom will be in attendance for a night of culinary indulgence and celebration. Click here for the list of chefs and a sneak peak of the menu. Just a warning: your taste buds will salivate and your stomach will begin to growl!
All proceeds from the evening will go towards C-CAP’s mission of providing scholarships and career opportunities in the hospitality industry to disadvantaged youths who have great talent in the kitchen.
Make sure to follow us on Twitter (@foodiepleasure) and Instagram (FoodiePleasure) as we will be live-tweeting from the benefit gala as well as posting pictures throughout the evening.
