“Raise the Barn” at Hemlock Hill Farm

Our friends at Village Dog, along with Captain Lawrence Brewing Company, Restaurant North and The Tapp will join together in a series of weeklong fundraising events to help restore Hemlock Hill Farm’s barn, which was destroyed in a fire back in April.

Hemlock Hill Farms opened in 1939, and has been owned and operated by three generations of the DeMaria family. Located in Cortland Manor, NY, Hemlock Hill is one of the oldest family owned working farms in Westchester County.

“We are fortunate to still have productive farms in Westchester. Our hope is to raise enough money to rebuild the main barn, and in the process to give back to a great local business” says Scott Vaccaro of Captain Lawrence Brewing Company.

Captain Lawrence Brewing Co. and Hemlock Hill Farm have a shared a deep partnership since the inception of Captain Lawrence in 2006. Brewery Owner Scott Vaccaro has worked with farm owners Laura and John DeMaria both to give back to the agricultural community, as well as to help minimize environmental waste in New York.

“We’re involved largely because we were inspired by Scott’s leadership and desire to help. Hemlock Hill, along with Captain Lawrence, Restaurant North and The Tapp, these are businesses that are made up of people, and people with the same values that we hold.” says John Van Dekker of Village Dog.
