Half of Foodie Pleasure (Allen) will be in attendance tonight at the Dishcrawl in Old Greenwich, CT. What’s a dish crawl you ask? We reached out to Jesse Leeds-Grant, Fairfield County Dishcrawl Ambassador, to learn more about the concept.
FP: We love the concept of a dishcrawl! For those who don’t know, please explain exactly what it is.
JLG: Dishcrawls are kind of like pub crawls, but we visit restaurants instead! We go to four spots in one night, sampling small versions of each spot’s specialties and getting to know the owners or chefs.
FP: What a great concept! We’ve noticed that dishcrawls are popping up all over the country. How did the original idea come about?
JLG: Dishcrawl was founded by Tracy Lee in 2010 in San Jose, CA. Tracy decided to do a dish crawl one day, and the concept was four restaurants, one night. Her first Dishcrawl was January 2011 and 90 people came out and it started growing from there. Then she realized this could be turned into a business. Dishcrawl is in over 100 locations all across the U.S. and Canada, and we’re still growing.
FP: What are some of your guilty pleasures? We like to call them foodie pleasures, hence the name 🙂
JLG: Hawaiian Pizza, Yogurt Covered Pretzels, and Mozzarella Risotto Balls
FP: Yogurt covered pretzels sounds good right about now!
Can’t wait for tonight’s Dishcrawl in Old Greenwich! Without revealing too much, what’s should all the attendees expect?
You can expect a lot of surprises and giveaways leading up to the Dishcrawl! Participating restaurants are kept secret until two days before the event, at which time the first location is revealed to ticket holders. The purpose of the Dishcrawl is to bring the local community together over a love of food and to highlight the best restaurants in the area!
FP: Thanks again for your time! Looking forward to the Dishcrawl tonight!
