Social Saturday Night

After reaching out to Chef Mogan Anthony for an interview after his Chopped episode, we made it a priority to check out Village Social in Mt. Kisco, the restaurant where he is the Executive Chef. The town in Upper Westchester has a great food scene so we knew we’d be in for a treat.

As we drove up to Village Social, we saw many groups and large parties fill up tables both inside and outside. There was also a very sizeable crowd at the bar. We could tell it was the place to be on a Saturday night! As we sat down, we noticed the dim lighting and rustic warehouse feel, complete with an open kitchen.

Kristina: I started with a glass of pinot grigio as we examined the menu. Deciding what to order was no small task since everything on the menu was appealing! In the end, we made some selections off both the daily menu and the ongoing menu.

Allen: Please note that our pictures don’t do the food any justice. Trust us, everything was delicious!

Jersey Peach Salad

Kristina: Having grown up on a farm, anything fresh and local always calls my name! This salad was the perfect combo: sweet peaches, tangy arugula and a savory goat cheese dressing. It was the perfect way to start the meal.

Wild Hawaiian Promfret

Allen: The fish was cooked perfectly. So much so that I wanted a second plate!

Baby Japanese Eggplant

Kristina: No matter how you prepare it, I love eggplant! This fried version really hit the spot—the flavorful, crunchy crust and tender eggplant was truly delicious.

Wood Oven Grilled Local Zucchini

Kristina: Another summertime favorite, this zucchini was grilled to perfection! It made me want to run out and get a grill!

Sunnyside Up Wood Oven Pizza

Allen: The combination of cheese, prosciutto and a sunny side up egg was a tasty combination that I could not get enough of!

Kristina: Don’t forget the truffles! For me, they’re what really put the pizza over the top!

Chicken Milanese

Allen: The chicken was cooked perfect-juicy and tender. The fresh tomatoes on top and arugula salad provided a good balance.

Our one regret: we ate so much that we didn’t possibly have room for dessert! Next time, we’ll be sure to leave room for the Peanut Butter Mousse Pie and other delectable sweets on the menu!

After our meal, we were pleasantly surprised that Chef Mogan made his way to our table to greet us. It was such a pleasure to meet him and be able to personally thank him for the outstanding meal!

A big thank you to Meryl Leftkowitz for not only providing access to Chef Mogan for an interview, but also for securing reservations for us on a busy Saturday night.

Have you been to Village Social? If not, it’s a must visit! We’ll be certain to return to try the dessert next time!
