After our first visit, it seems like every time we’re in East Harlem, we find ourselves stopping by Evelyn’s Kitchen for a bite to eat. Recently, Kristina’s book club met in the neighborhood so stopping by Evelyn’s on the way home was a natural stop. Getting to Evelyn’s is easy, but deciding what to eat is not! From the entrees to the sides to the dessert options, we probably spend more time deciding WHAT to order than actually eating!
Last time we were there, we decided to go with one of the specials of the day: jerk chicken. As our sides, we selected roasted potatoes and asparagus. The meat was prepared perfectly; it was tender and juicy with the skin just crispy enough.
We’ve heard about the blondies at Evelyn’ s so we had to order one for dessert. Knowing we probably weren’t going to share just one dessert, though, we also ordered a carrot cake cookie. It’s a good thing we each ordered our own dessert- a sweet tooth is hard to satisfy with half a dessert! Even though it was a rainy night (just like last time we went to Evelyn’s Kitchen!), everything was better after a cozy meal and pleasant conversation at Evelyn’s. Have you made a trip there yet? If not, you do not know what you’re missing!
