C-CAP Junior Benefit Recap

From our interviews with C-CAP Founder Richard Grausman and Alumni Chefs Kelvin Fernandez and Thiago Silva, we’ve become big supporters of the national non-profit and its mission to prepare and provide underserved youth for career opportunities in the foodservice industry.

Recently, we were in attendance at C-CAP’s 5th Annual Junior Benefit, A Taste of Fall held at Ginny’s Supper Club in Harlem. We spoke with several C-CAP Alumni including Sean Quinn (Chadwicks), Angel Torivio (The Meatball Shop) and Cesar Gutierrez (Lexington Brass) while tasting food from stellar local restaurants such as Dos Caminos, , The GeneralMelvin’s Juice Box at The Dream Downtown, and Auden at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.

Aside from all the great food, it was great catching up with Chef Kelvin and Joyce Appelman (C-CAP National Communications Director) as well as meeting mixologist Larry Purvis. In addition, Deborah Grausman gave a thoughtful speech honoring Alexandra and Nicole Leavenworth for their philanthropic contributions to C-CAP over the years and our friend Chef Kelvin spoke about the influence C-CAP has had on his life, including his exciting upcoming venture.

We always look forward to C-CAP events and have already marked our calendars for the C-CAP Annual Benefit on March 4, 2014 honoring Michael White!
