Saturday in the City

You may not know this, but Kristina lived in Amsterdam for a year between when she graduated from college and moved to New York. So, when she learned that Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring would be on display at The Frick Collection, she knew a visit was in order. Of course, she wouldn’t be half of FP if she didn’t stop for food after the museum visit. Read on to learn about what she ate…

After visiting the Frick (a NYC must-see!), my friends and I were dying for coffee and a bite to eat. However, before we found real food, we happened upon Laduree, a French macaron shop on Madison Ave. We couldn’t help but go in and admire the dainty macarons and gorgeous boxes– it was like we were transported straight to Paris! After picking up a few macarons to go, we continued walking until we found Via Quaddranno, an almost-hidden Italian gem on the Upper East Side. Though it’s tiny, it’s clearly a local favorite as the place was packed! We each had coffee (absolutely delicious!) and a panini, and two of us went for dessert… yes, dessert… even though we had macarons in our purses. I can’t say no to tiramisu– and I’m glad I didn’t after trying this one. It was absolutely incredible! My friend had the panna cotta, which was equally delicious- but not tiramisu. 😉

If you find yourself anywhere near NYC’s Museum Mile, definitely consider hitting up Laduree and/or Via Quaddranno for some sustanence. After all, you deserve it after the hard work of museum-viewing!
