Crawling through Stamford

We live in Westchester County but enjoy taking trips to nearby CT to attend events and check out new places to eat. This past weekend, we went on Dishcrawl FC‘s brunchcrawl in Stamford. The city continues to grow and has a great food scene. As with past crawls we’ve attended, every place was a secret until we arrived.

McFadden’s

The first stop on the crawl was McFadden’s where half of FP (Kristina) and many others enjoyed the brunch special of “bottomless” mimosas and Bloody Mary’s. We enjoyed the food as well– a trio of brunch options with a twist! We enjoyed a frittata over potato medallion, French toast with bananas and candied walnuts (YUM!) and a BLT with fried egg and roasted tomato mayo. The combination saved us from the ever-present brunch debate: savory or sweet?

The Fez

How can you not like a place called The Fez?! We rarely eat Moroccan food so the second stop was a special treat. We ate caramelized cauliflower with raisins and pine nuts, fingerling potatoes (including purple potatoes!) with harissa mayo and a sag and feta spring roll.

Cotto Wine Bar & Trattoria

Last but not least, we visited Cotto, which features photos of the founder’s grandmother along the walls. Cotto has a cozy, modern feel and we enjoyed a few paninis (porchetta and siciliano) and a vegetable frittata with mozzarella. Cotto is the kind of place that we definitely want to get back to for dinner and drinks!

As a special treat, we walked away from the crawl with a book, Foodie Top 100 Restaurants Worldwide. We’re eager to use it to start checking places off!

Like with past crawls, we enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and meeting new people. A big thank you to Kelly Fazzino, Dishcrawl FC Ambassador, for putting the crawl together and providing the crowd with great hospitality. We look forward to seeing Kelly at other crawls and events in the future!
