Munching through the Midwest

Recently, Kristina spent some time in the Midwest; first, Minneapolis, MN for work and then Detroit, MI for pleasure.

Minneapolis is a great town, and though most of my time was spent indoors at a conference, I did get out for a few meals. Here is a gallery of what I ate:

Highlights of the trip included fish n chips at Brit’s Pub, the wild mushroom flatbread at Zelo, tacos from Habanero’s Tacos and a ceasar salad with beets from Spoonriver. I would love to get back to Minneapolis to explore more of the food scene as well as the local arts and culture.

Blog readers might recall that my family lives in Michigan, so the conference in Minneapolis provided the perfect opportunity to stop by my sister’s place outside of Detroit for a few days. In addition to a Tigers game and a trip to the DIA (if you’re anywhere close, you MUST check out the Diego and Frida exhibit!), there were plenty of good eats, including a trip to HopCat and Seva.

Recently, the Midwest seems better known for the craft beer scene than the food scene, but this trip proved there are plenty of creative, delicious eats as well. Do you have any favorite foodie spots in the Midwest? I’m already looking forward to my next trip back!
