Queens Taste 2016

Half of FP (Allen) grew up visiting Flushing every weekend with his parents to shop for groceries and eat at different restaurants. The other half (Kristina) currently works in Astoria so we both know about the delicious food that Queens has to offer. You too can also sample a taste of what Queens has to offer at this years Queens Taste 2016, the borough’s premiere food-and-networking event. In conjunction with The Queens Economic Development Corporation (QEDC) and the Queens Tourism Council, the event will take place at the New York Hall of Science in Flushing Meadows Corona Park on Tuesday, May 3, from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Foodies can expect everything from creamy to crunchy, fiery to flaky, and savory to sweet. For example, Flushing’s Mulan will prepare Modern Chinese cuisine, while Joe’s Crab Shack in Elmhurst will serve seafood, and Rego Park’s Marani will offer kosher delectables with a Georgian (Russian) flare. Latin participants include Sabor de Cuba in Astoria, while the Nest in Richmond Hill will dish out Trinidadian/Guyanese treats and Shake Shack, which just opened a branch at Queens Center, will share its famous hamburgers. In addition, clients of the Entrepreneur Space, a food-and-business incubator that QEDC operates in Long Island City, will give away samples of their artisan specialties.

Let’s not forget about drinks and dessert. The Wine Store of Forest Hills headlines a beverage group that includes locally made Queens Courage gin and caffeinated products from Coffeed. For sweets, Sabatino Store will offer truffles and the Paleo Factory will give out a dairy-free, gluten-free, date-sweetened chilled mouse.

Besides all the delicious food, there’s the networking and opportunity to meet new people and foodies alike. Most of the 700 expected attendees either live in Queens or do business in the borough (or both). Queens Taste 2016 provides the perfect atmosphere to meet likeminded individuals, share stories, exchange ideas while enjoying some delicious food!. It’s not too late to get tickets, so make sure to visit www.thequeenstaste.com to purchase your tickets!
