Eating Through the Queen City

Long weekends are few and far between for us so we took advantage of the recent MLK weekend to visit Charlotte, NC. In addition to visiting a friend in Greensboro and attending a Charlotte Hornets game, we made sure to check out the food scene in the city known as the Queen City.

After landing in Charlotte, we needed a quick bite before the Hornets game so we stopped by Amelie’s French Bakery & Cafe. We now know why there’s always a long line. We could have eaten a second strawberry and kiwi tart because it was so good.

 

After the Hornets game, we met up with Rich Cho at Cellar’s of Duckworth. In addition to being the General Manager of the Hornets, Rich is the creator of BigTime Bites, the Arena for Food Scouts. It was great to learn more about Rich, his website and just talk about food. The buttered scallops were one of the best scallop meals we’ve ever eaten.

The next day we headed to Greensboro and had brunch at Four Flocks and Larder. Good food and drinks with along with great service and company definitely makes for a enjoyable brunch!

 

Before getting on a flight back to NY, we checked out 7th Street Public Market and all it had to offer. Between coffee from Not Just Coffee, a sandwich from Local Loaf and pizza from Pure Pizza, our tastebuds were definitely satisfied before our flight back to NYC.

 

We hope to return to Charlotte in the future to further explore the area, its history and of course check out more places to eat!
